No relief from dense fog in Lucknow, Allahabad, Patna

Parts of North and East India continue to reel under dense to very dense fog several days now. Situation was no different on Thursday morning wherein places such as Allahabad and Bagdogra reported very dense fog, with visibility dropping to nil.

Lucknow was not far behind as the city also reported visibility of mere 100 meters. This was followed by Delhi and Bhubaneswar as both the cities observed dense fog with the visibility of 100 meters only.

Varanasi and Gorakhpur too reported dense fog and visibility was reported at 200 meters for both the cities.
Meanwhile, Chandigarh witnessed moderate fog with visibility of 300 meters and Jammu 400 meters.

In wake of this, several flights flying from these areas reported a delay or were rescheduled. Also, 72 trains were running behind the schedule due to low visibility conditions.

According to Skymet Weather, similar weather conditions will continue for another 24 to 48 hours. Thus, we do not expect much relief from fog. As per the weathermen, light winds and increased level of humidity will lead to formation of fog over the Indo-Gangetic plains.

Moreover, clear weather conditions will lead to early cooling of earth surface, resulting in condensation. This will further make the conditions more conducive for fog.

However, fog does not persist for very long and starts clearing away as soon as the sun comes up and mercury starts rising.
