No more heatwave in Hyderabad as Monsoon comes closer

May 27, 2016 1:29 PM |

Hyderabad rainHyderabad is situated on the Deccan plateau, about 1800 ft. above the sea level. The city normally witnesses pleasant weather conditions barring the months of April and May. May can sometimes get very hot with the all-time highest 44.5 degree Celsius recorded in May 12, 2010. The moment Monsoon sets in, mostly by the beginning of June, a drastic change in weather pattern is witnessed over Hyderabad.

The city of Nizams has been getting a taste of oppressive summer for the last few days. We will see a change from the first week of June as the heat will be consumed by Monsoon rains. Invariably the city will become windy and fairly pleasant.

The first 10 days of May have been quite rainy with May 6 receiving 75 mm of rain. The second half did receive pre-Monsoon rains but the spells were well spaced. On Thursday, the city had received 10.6 mm of rainfall.

The city will start receiving rains from May 28 and we can expect passing showers thereafter. In the absence of rainfall, the city could see maximum rise upto 41 degree Celsius. However, heatwave conditions are not likely. In view of rains in Kerala, Karnataka and some parts of Telangana, temperatures will remain under check in Hyderabad as well.
