First floods, now polls in thick of winter. Weather conditions seem to be keeping the residents of Jammu and Kashmir busy.
Right after the ravaging floods hit Jammu and Kashmir, the snowfall and bone chilling cold seems to be wreaking havoc for people hit by the floods. The minimum temperatures in many parts of Jammu and Kashmir have fallen below freezing point forcing homeless people to take shelter in rented accommodation or with relatives.
However, in absence of any western disturbance, parts of Jammu and Kashmir are witnessing warm days that are expected to bring enough people to the polling booth for voting starting from 25th November.
Even though the night temperatures are falling sharply, the days are still warmer due to the dry weather. No inclement weather is expected till the end of this month.
Dipping temperature
The cold wave has gripped parts of J&K as many places are witnessing sub zero temperatures.
While the ski resort Gulmarg is observing minimum temperature of -1.5°C, the minimum is -10°C in Leh and -3.5°C in Pahalgam.
So even though the night temperatures are below normal by 2-3°, the polls taking place during the day can look forward to warm and pleasant weather.
