The Southwest Monsoon has officially come to an end and Northeast Monsoon is yet to set in. Normally, during the Northeast Monsoon, the state of Tamil Nadu records more rain, but this time Southwest Monsoon also remained favourable for Tamil Nadu and they recorded normal rains of 18%.

A Cyclonic Circulation now lies over Interior Tamil Nadu and a Trough is extending from Low-Pressure Area over North Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Uttar Pradesh to North Tamil Nadu across Telangana. As per the experts, the Trough is likely to move further eastward.

In the past 24 hours as well, scattered light rain activities were seen over South Tamil Nadu and isolated over the coastal stations. Yesterday Chennai recorded 1.2 mm, while Kodaikanal saw 5 mm of rain.

Forecast:

The experts have to say that scattered light rain activity is likely to continue with isolated moderate spells mainly over Nilgiris and northwest parts of Tamil Nadu. The activity over these regions will enhance over the next 24 hours. Places like Vellore, Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri will be impacted by these rains.

Seems like the state of Tamil Nadu will continue to receive light to moderate spells in the coming days especially over the interior parts. Chennai is likely to see light rains with cloudy sky and comfortable weather in sight.
