The last few days have been hot over the plains of Northwest India. Both day and night temperatures have been settling above the normal levels.
In fact, Delhi observed record breaking temperatures during this period, with minimums settling at 20°C, which is the highest in the last ten years.
The maximum temperatures have also been skyrocketing with almost 30°C.
These conditions can be attributed to the back to back Western Disturbances affecting the hills of North India, which have been keeping the temperatures well above the normal range. The induced cyclonic circulation over Haryana and Uttar Pradesh can also be held responsible for the change in weather conditions.
Now, the recent Western Disturbance, which resulted in widespread rain over the three hilly states of North India, has moved away. Also, the next Western Disturbance is expected to affect the hilly region around February 27.
Presently, due to the absence of a weather system, cool, dry winds are expected to blow over Northwest India. Day temperatures may witness a marginal drop in the hills of North India. Clear sky conditions are likely over the plains as well as the hills.
However, night temperatures, which are also settling above the average levels will witness a significant drop. Nights are expected to get colder due to the prevailing weather conditions. While wintry conditions may not make a comeback, somewhat colder nights are in the offing for Northwest India.
With the drop in temperature, fog will also make a comeback. While parts of Haryana, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh may observe moderate fog, dense fog may occur over isolated pockets.
