Minimum temperatures over many parts of Rajasthan have witnessed a significant drop during first week of December. However, most districts of Gujarat were waiting for temperatures to dip. Now, minimum temperatures or Gujarat are also heading south, and winter chill is being felt over many parts of the state during morning and night hours. But maximum temperatures are still in lower thirties.
Therefore, contrast between minimum and maximum is very high. Cold wave conditions are prevailing at isolated pockets of Gujarat. For example, Naliya in Kutch has recorded minimum temperature of 7.8 degrees, 3 degrees below normal. Deesa, Rajkot, Surendranagar, Ahmedabad, Mahuva, Amreli and Porbandar has recorded minimum between 12 and 14 degrees.
Most parts of Northwest and West Rajasthan are witnessing minimum temperatures between 4 and 6 degrees. Cold day conditions are also prevailing over Northwest Rajasthan due to persistent dense fog. Due to increased wind speed intensity of fog may decrease over Northwest Rajasthan leading to some relief. Minimum temperatures of both Gujarat and Rajasthan may drop for other leading to winter chill during morning and night hours.
