Night temperature in Delhi that dropped to 7.1°C on Wednesday morning, four degrees below normal has equaled the last year's lowest minimum temperature which was recorded on 10th of February. Both the morning minimums are now the coldest temperatures recorded in February since 2009.
However, the maximum temperature in Delhi increased marginally to record 23.2°C on Tuesday and the passing clouds being observed on Wednesday will keep a check on the day temperature that could have risen further due to clear skies.
Our meteorologists said that these passing clouds in Delhi are associated with a feeble cyclonic circulation in northwest plains and are too weak to bring rain in Delhi. They expect the current weather in Delhi to change from Friday night onwards as clouds and rain in some parts of Delhi is expected due to a cyclonic circulation over Rajasthan and a fresh Western Disturbance over Jammu & Kashmir. There would be more chances of rain in Delhi on Saturday, 22nd February.
The mean total rainfall for the month is 19.7 mm in Delhi which has already been surpassed by the rain that occurred last weekend. Delhi had recorded 23.2 mm of rain on 14th of February which was the second highest rainfall on a single day in last five years. 46 mm of rain - highest in last five years - was recorded on 5th of February last year.
