Haryana is one pocket in North India where bone chilling temperatures are being observed for last many days. Minimum temperature in the state is recording 4-5 degrees below normal on an average. Narnaul is the coldest city in the state with night temperature settling as low as 1.5°C on Monday, which is 5 degrees below the monthly average.
Similarly Karnal saw the minimum settle 4 degrees below the normal at 2.6°C. Hisar is another place in Haryana that has been shivering under extremely cold weather. In fact, Sunday night was much colder with many places recording freezing temperatures. For instance, Rohtak saw the minimum plummet to 0.4°C on Sunday morning, while Sirsa recorded a minimum of 0.6°C. These temperatures were lower than that recorded in Shimla and Nainital.
Meanwhile, a system in the Bay of Bengal and a cyclonic circulation in Gujarat is expected to change the wind pattern in North India to southeasterly. Due to the change in the wind pattern, moisture and humidity will increase in the air, which is ideal for fog formation.
