North India is not the only region experiencing some really harsh winter condition. Parts of Central India like Madhya Pradesh is also observing a similar kind of a condition.

It is not very usual for Madhya Pradesh to observe chilly winter but this time it has been a different story. According to the data available with Skymet several places in the state, particularly in East and West Madhya Pradesh, are recording night temperature 6-7 degrees below normal.

For instance, Jabalpur in East Madhya Pradesh saw the night temperature settle at 5°C today morning which is a drop of 9 degrees from the previous day. The decline was even sharper in Umaria where the minimum dropped as low as 2.9°C from 13.4 degrees a day before.

While in West Madhya Pradesh the state capital Bhopal saw the night temperature slide to an uncomfortable 6.2°C today morning from 11.4°C a day before. The holy city of Ujjain also shivered at 5.4°C which is a drop of almost 7 degrees.

According to senior meteorologists, this cold wave-like condition is going to prevail in the state for another three days. Around December 30 when a fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect the hills the weather in Madhya Pradesh will start to turn a little comfortable. The cold northwesterly winds blowing in the state will change to become easterlies due to the effect of the weather system in the hills.

Until then we don’t see any relief from cold nights in the state. The day temperature will however remain comfortable.
