Nepal Rains: Situation worsens as 65 reported dead, nearly 38 injured while 30 missing

Torrential rains have been lashing the entire region of Nepal courtesy Break Monsoon conditions. During this period, the Trough line shifts along the foothills resulting in inclement weather conditions.

Amidst extremely heavy rains, around 65 people have lost their lives, 30 are missing and nearly 38 have been injured. Millions of people have been affected by rising floodwaters across the region as part of the seasonal monsoon.

In the past 24 hours, Simra and Kathmandu Airport recorded 30 mm of rains, Dhangadhi saw 31 mm of rains while Okhaldhunga has seen 15 mm of rains.

It has been raining continuously in Nepal for the past few days and these continuous downpour has further aggravated the situation. Landslide, mudslides, etc. are a result of these torrential rains only.

It is said that the volume of water increases phenomenally in the mountainous terrain, thus the magnitude of calamity increases manifold in the region.

The water bodies, in any case, will keep responding even much later after the rain stops. For the next 48 to 72 hours, the situation is expected to remain the same in the region. No significant relief is expected at least for the next three days.
