Nashik has been receiving on and off rains during the month of September. So much so that since about a week, the region has witnessed a few good spells of rain. The last 24 hours have also been good enough for the city and other parts of Madhya Maharashtra.
During the last 21 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday to 5:30 am today, Nashik has received 16 mm of rain. Two days ago, the city had received about 9 mm of rain which is not bad at all. During the last few days, patchy rains were also witnessed over Pune.
These Monsoon rains can be attributed to the low pressure area which has intensified into a well-marked low. The system is currently over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and its adjoining areas. The associated cyclonic circulation is also tilting southwards.
Not only this, a trough in the lower levels is extending from Punjab across Vidarbha and Telangana up to the centre of the well-marked low, which is further increasing the moisture incursion over the region.
Now, during the next 24 to 48 hours, some more rains are likely over the region as the weather features are expected to persist for some more time. While these rains won’t be heavy in intensity, widespread showers will keep conditions pleasant.
