Nashik gets monstrous Monsoon rains on third consecutive day
It is the third consecutive day when Nashik has received record breaking rains. The relationship between Nashik and rains has literally doubled in size as rainfall over the city has brilliant heights.
In the span of 9 hours from 08:30 PM August 2, 2016 to 05:30 AM August 3, 2016 Nashik has received a monstrous rainfall figure of 194 mm.
The reason for this adverse weather condition can be attributed to the active cyclonic circulation over Gujarat. Along with this weather system the off-shore trough which is running from Gujarat to Karnataka coast is active.
Coastal Karnataka, Gujarat coast and North Madhya Maharashtra has been receiving heavy to extremely heavy rainfall which is not good news for the farmers.
Already Nashik had surpassed its monthly average yesterday and it is inching closer to double its size. The torrential rain is expected to go on few more days.
The residents of the urban Nashik aren’t the only ones bearing the brunt of these rains. The problem here with this heavy rainfall is that it is not beneficial to the farmers as crops damage is strong possibility.
Nashik surpasses monthly rains in 54 hours, records 94 mm rain in six hours
Rains and Nashik have developed quite an amicable relationship in the past few days. So much so that the city has been recording heavy rains for the past 48 hours.
While the city received 35 mm rain a day before, 102 mm of rainfall was received in a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am yesterday to 8:30 am today.
While residents of the city may have thought that the heavy Monsoon rain saga had come to an end, heavy showers continue to batter Nashik.
During the last six hours between 8:30 am and 2:30 pm today, Nahsik has recorded a whopping 94 mm of rainfall.
During the next 24 hours also, Nashik is expected to receive light to moderate Monsoon rains. Thereafter, the intensity of these showers will reduce and only scattered rains will continue over the city.
So far, Nashik has recorded 231 mm of rain against its monthly average of 145.7 mm. Thus, the city has easily surpassed its monthly rains of August in a mere 54 hours.
Nashik receives 102 mm rain, inches towards monthly mean in 2 days
Nashik rains have picked up pace during the last 48 hours and residents could not have asked for more. Heavy Monsoon rains were observed during the month of July, breaking the all-time monthly record.
The month of August also began on a rainy note with the city recording 35 mm of rainfall on the first day. The last 24 hours were even better with the city recording rainfall in three digits. During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Nashik recorded a whopping 102 mm of rainfall.
Currently, the feeble cyclonic circulation over the Gujarat region and its adjoining areas persist. Also, the off shore trough is running from Gujarat up to Coastal Maharashtra. Due to the above mentioned weather features, moisture incursion from the Arabian Sea has increased thus resulting in good rains over Nashik and a few adjoining cities.
So far, in just about two days during the month of August, Nashik has been able to receive 137 mm of rain. The monthly rainfall average for Nashik during the month of August stands at 145.9 mm. Thus, with a mere 8.9 mm to go, Nashik will be able to achieve its monthly rainfall target very soon.
During the next 24 hours, good Monsoon rains are expected to continue over Nashik. However, the intensity of these rains are likely to reduce thereafter.
