The Southwest Monsoon has once again picked pace over parts of Maharashtra. All thanks to the well-marked low pressure area over Southwest Madhya Pradesh, which has activated the off-shore trough running along the West Coast.
In wake of this, moderate to heavy showers were recorded over several parts of Coastal Maharashtra, while Madhya Maharashtra also saw some good rains.

In span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday,Nashikrecorded whopping 72 mm of rains, followed by Vengurla 60 mm, Harnai 52 mm, Alibag 38 mm, Dahanu 29 mm,Mumbai28 mm,Pune26 mm, and Parbhani 14 mm.
Further, weathermen are predicting that the system is likely to gain more strength and induce a depression over Gujarat during the next 24 hours.
With this, weather conditions will remain conducive for moderate to heavy rains to continue over North Konkan and North Madhya Maharashtra. Places like Nashik, Malegaon, Dahanu, Mumbai, Raigad and Pune are likely to record some good showers during the next 48 hours.

Mumbai and adjoining areas will also see increase in intensity and moderate to heavy spells are expected for the next few days.
Remaining areas of Madhya Maharashtra will receive scattered light rain with few moderate spells.
However, Vidarbha will have to settle with light to moderate rains only for the next two days but the intensity will increase over Vidarbha and Marathwada from July 19.
