Rain in Maharashtra increases, Monsoon inches closer

The Southwest Monsoon continued to give good Monsoon rains over many parts of Coastal Maharashtra and Madhya Maharashtra during the last 24 hours. In fact, Vidarbha region also recorded some scattered light Monsoon showers. Meanwhile, the weather conditions over Marathwada remained almost dry.

In a span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Mahabaleshwar recorded 151 mm of rainfall, Bhira 85 mm, Harnai 62.2 mm, Nashik 30 mm, Thane 18.2 mm, Satara 13.4 mm, Dahanu 10.4 mm, Udgir 10 mm, Akola 6.9 mm, Vengurla 6.4 mm, Pune 6.1 mm, Aurangabad 4.7 mm, Buldhana 4 mm, Ratnagiri 3.7 mm, Nagpur 3.6 mm, Kolhapur 2.8 mm, and Amravati 2.4 mm.

These weather conditions can be attributed to a low-pressure area which was seen over South Rajasthan and is now moving westwards. Due to this, good rains and thundershowers are expected to continue over places including Nagpur, Dahanu, Amravati, Gondia, Nashik, Mumbai and Ratnagiri until the next 24 hours.
