At present, Vidarbha and other areas of Maharashtra have been observing some Pre-Monsoon rains. In the last 24 hours, Yeotmal and Washim have already received scattered light rain and thundershower activities along with squally winds over these regions.
During the span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Sholapur recorded 43 mm of rainfall, Mumbai 3 mm and Harnai 2 mm.
As per Skymet Weathermen, a trough is extending from Bihar up to Marathwada across Vidarbha. Due to this, Nagpur is expected to witness good rainfall activities during the span of next 24 to 48 hours. The temperatures at present are running above the 40°C mark over most places in Vidarbha.
These pre-Monsoon activities are likely to increase over Vidarbha and adjoining areas of Marathwada. Meanwhile, Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan, Goa and coastal regions of Maharashtra may witness a significant increase in the rainfall activities during the next two to three days. Also, moderate to heavy showers are likely to occur over Nagpur and adjoining areas of Vidarbha.
These on and off pre-Monsoon activities will help keep the temperatures under control and the prevailing heatwave conditions over Nagpur, Vidarbha and adjoining areas of Madhya Maharashtra are not likely to make a comeback anytime soon.
