Rain has played spoilsport on a number of occasions in the ongoing cricket series between India and Australia. The seven-match One Day series has seen two games- one in Cuttack and the other in Ranchi- being washed away due to rain. And though, the weather in Nagpur, the venue of today’s match is predicted to be clear, another factor that could influence the outcome of the match is dew.
Dew often plays an important role in series played at the start of the winter season till its end. The India-Australia series is a witness to this condition where team bowling first has bowled with ease- as the dew factor is absent- and restricted their opponent to lesser totals. But as the day sets, the dew factor comes into play and the team bowling second finds it difficult to grip the ball. Fielding also becomes difficult in such conditions with the ball slipping out of fielder’s hand.
Reason for Dew formation
It won’t be a surprise if this dew factor plays a crucial role today, when India takes on Australia at the Vidarbha Cricket Association ground. The reason for dew in Nagpur is clear sky. Due to overnight cooling of the earth’s surface and available moisture, air near the ground is expected to condense to form dew.
Must win situation for India
Considered to be the minnows before the start of the series, Australia is already leading the seven-match series 2-1. It’s going to be a do-or-die situation for the men in blue to keep the series alive.
