Since last many days, the Southwest Monsoon was not much over several parts of Coastal Maharashtra. Mumbai has also not been receiving good rainfall and thundershower activities.
Meanwhile, Marathwada and Madhya Maharashtra have been witnessing mainly dry weather conditions.
In the span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Vengurla recorded 27.8 mm of rain, Parbhani 25.7 mm, Gondia 22.4 mm, Thane 21.2 mm, Aurangabad 19.4 mm, Mahabaleshwar 18.7 mm, Chandrapur 16.2 mm, Harnai 15 mm, Bhira 6 mm, Ratnagiri 4.3 mm, Mumbai 3.4 mm, Nagpur and Amravati 2.2 mm, Sangli 1.5 mm, Dahanu 1 mm, Wardha 0.8 mm, Alibag 0.7 mm and Nashik 0.1 mm.
According to Skymet Weather, a feeble trough is seen running along the West Coast, which is now likely to get activated again. With this, coastal areas of the state are likely to record moderate to heavy showers in the next few days. Mumbai could also see moderate showers, one or two good spell also cannot be ruled out.
Many districts of Madhya Maharashtra and few parts of Marathwada may witness scattered rainfall activities in the next 24 to 48 hours. The rain intensity over northern parts of Maharashtra and Vidarbha may also increase. Places like Akola, Nagpur, Nashik and Gondia may also continue to receive scattered light to moderate rains.

As on July 10, Vidarbha is the most rain deficient region of Maharashtra by 26%. Marathwada is also rain deficient by 1% but Madhya Maharashtra and Konkan & Goa are rain surplus by 8% and 3%, respectively. However, by July 13, the rains will pick up pace over Konkan & Goa and Vidarbha region.
