Almost all the states of Northeast India have recorded good pre Monsoon rains until now. In fact, during the last 24 hours, Assam recorded moderate to heavy pre Monsoon showers along with squally winds and lightning strikes. Remaining states such as Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland also recorded scattered rainfall activity.

In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Goalpara recorded heavy rain to the tune of 67.4mm. In the same time frame, Golaghat recorded 24.2 mm rains, Jorhat 20 mm, Cherrapunji 11 mm, Dibrugarh 7.4 mm and Shillong 4.4 mm.

As per Skymet Weather, the Western Disturbance is moving across the eastern parts of Tibet. Its induced cyclonic circulation is over the northern parts of Bangladesh and adjoining Assam.

Henceforth, we expect light to moderate pre Monsoon rains to continue over Assam for the next 24 to 48 hours. As these weather systems are moving eastwards, therefore rainfall activity would increase over Nagaland also. Places such as Kiphire, Phek, Wokha, Mon, Kohima, and Dimapur would record good pre Monsoon rains.

Meanwhile, remaining northeastern states would witness scattered light to moderate rainfall activity. It is anticipated that after 48 hours, rains will continue to occur. However, the intensity and spread would reduce. The weather during the day would be mainly comfortable and at night the weather is expected to remain pleasant.
