One of Peninsular India’s most famous tourist destinations, Mysuru received heavy rainfall on Thursday.  This spell of rainfall could be attributed to the trough marked from Marathwada to South Tamil Nadu across interiors of Karnataka. It is extending up to 1.5 km above the mean sea level with an embedded upper air cyclonic circulation lying over North Interior Karnataka and adjoining Marathwada region.

In fact, Southwest Monsoon has been active over the interiors of Karnataka over the last couple of days. In a span of 24 hours from 8.30 on Thursday, Mysuru has received 78 mm of rainfall. This is unusual because the monthly average rainfall for Mysuru is 84.8 mm.

During this time period Bangalore has also seen heavy spells of rainfall. In fact, the Bangalore Airport recorded a whopping 71 mm of rain.
