One of Peninsular India’s most famous tourist destinations, Mysore received 84 mm of rainfall on Thursday. This spell of rainfall could be attributed to the trough marked from Andhra Pradesh up to extreme parts of Tamil Nadu across South Interior Karnataka.
The above mentioned weather system has been bringing light to moderate showers in interiors of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala. For Mysore, this is the heaviest spell of rainfall this season.

Mysore is located to the south of Karnataka and lies at the base of the Chamundi Hills. Consequently, it enjoys a pleasant weather all year round. At present, the maximum temperature is around 32°C, while the morning minimum is hovering around 18°C.
September is the third rainiest month for Mysore, after October and May. The average rainfall for this month is 132 mm. The ‘city of palaces’ has already received 123 mm of rain, so far this month. Rainfall in October mostly comes from the Northeast Monsoon in Mysore.
According to Skymet, Mysore could receive more showers in the coming days and is likely to cross its monthly average rainfall with aplomb.
Till the first fortnight of September, most parts of South India were highly rainfall deficient. The interiors of Karnataka were the worst affected regions. But, the weather system which originated in the Bay of Bengal around September 17 brought good showers in Peninsular and Central India till September 22. This led to a significant drop in the deficiency figures. And, now the trough is also contributing to the overall Monsoon rains in Peninsular India.
