MUST WATCH: Lifetime of Vardah, strongest cyclone of 2016

Cyclonic storm, Vardah which happens to be the strongest cyclone of the year 2016 resulted in heavy to very heavy rains over Chennai and adjoining areas. Many parts of Tamil Nadu and Coastal Andhra Pradesh witnessed massive damage due to the Godzilla cyclone.

So much so that more than a dozen lives were lost due to Cyclone Vardah’s fury. The damage has been estimated to be just a little less than Rupees 7000 crore. Now, the system has moved away and is in the Arabian Sea.

NASA, the US Space Agency has collected rainfall data which occurred due to Cyclone Vardah. NASA’s IMERG showed the heavy rains that Vardah produced during its path. There were several intensifications during its lifetime. Total rainfall of around 300 mm have been shown by IMERG along Vardah’s track
