The weather system in the Bay of Bengal has intensified into a cyclonic storm and currently lies along the Andhra Pradesh and Odisha coast. The system is likely to intensify into a severe cyclonic storm during the next 24 hours. While the system has given heavy rains over many areas of Kerala and Tamil Nadu, coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh have been battered by torrential rains.
During the last 24 hours, Kalingapatnam in Andhra Pradesh has recorded 145 mm of rain followed by Gopalpur where 79 mm rainfall was recorded. Many other areas have also received heavy to very heavy showers. Roanu is expected to pound more rains over the coastal areas as it continues with its movement.
