Cyclone Phethai had intensified into a Severe Cyclonic Storm yesterday and has given heavy rains over many parts of the state of Andhra Pradesh. Light to moderate rainfall activity has also been witnessed in many areas of Odisha including the interior parts. Some rains have also been seen in parts of Jharkhand as well as West Bengal.
Now, Phethai has weakened into a Cyclonic Storm which has been the case because of sea temperatures being on the colder side, wind shear being strong and Cyclone being closer to the landmass. The Cyclone is expected to make landfall in just about a few hours over Coastal Andhra Pradesh. Wind speed is expected to range between 80-90 kmph and may gust up to a whopping 100 kmph.
