Cyclonic storm Vardah has now become a severe cyclonic storm and is currently in the west-central Bay of Bengal adjoining South Bay of Bengal. Not only this, the weather system has also changed its track and now is heading straight towards North Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Coast.

While the system is expected to weaken into a severe cyclone soon, heavy rains are likely over Chennai and adjoining areas. Vardah will make landfall close to Chennai tomorrow during the afternoon hours. In fact, the weather system will weaken into a cyclonic storm during its landfall.
