Cyclone Vayu has been brewing in east-central Arabian Sea, moving parallel to Konkan & Goa coast. The system would be now anytime abeam Mumbai, which would give some intense showers over the city.
The system is moving favourable weather conditions and is likely to become a severe cyclonic storm by Tuesday evening. Vayu would continue to move in north direction and strike Gujarat coastal between Porbandar and Mahuva around Veraval and Diu region as a Severe Cyclonic Storm by the late night of June 12 or early morning of June 13. It would be accompanied with high velocity with the speed of 110-120 kmph gusting to 135 kmph.
Cyclone Vayu started its journey from Southeast Arabian Sea as a cyclonic circulation. It took time for intensifying into a low pressure area but thereon it has been a rapid intensification for the system.
