Chennai rains have remained quite intense for the past three days or so. So much so that the city even witnessed a whopping 169 mm of rainfall a day before. While rains did reduce slightly but heavy showers continue to batter the city for the past 48 hours.
Not only this, the cyclonic circulation which was persisting over Sri Lanka coast and adjoining Southwest Bay of Bengal has now intensified into a low-pressure area.

Due to this, moderate to heavy rains are expected to continue over Chennai as well as other parts of Coastal Tamil Nadu for at least the next 24 to 48 hours.
