Mussoorie, Nainital, Dehradun to get more Monsoon rains, landslide may be a chance

Out of the three hill states of North India, Uttarakhand is the one which is having a good amount of weather. In the last one week also, the state observed frequent rain activity, with short respite for some time.

However, the rain intensity was much more over the foothills and a lower region which were the major rain beneficiaries due to which the deficiency has been constantly dropping. In fact, in the last one week, it has dropped to 4%.

As per Skymet Weather, the rain activity is influenced mostly due to the axis of Monsoon trough which when shifts close to foothills, brings rain-bearing clouds, resulting in rains. As the trough moves far away, the rain activity reduces.

According to Skymet Weather, at present, a cyclonic circulation is over East Uttar Pradesh. In addition to this, the western end of the axis of Monsoon trough is also passing through Uttar Pradesh, with slight oscillation towards the foothills of Uttarakhand. This weather system has been causing weather activity over the state.

As of now, the rain activity is likely to remain for the next three days. The state would experience fairly widespread rains with isolated heavy to very heavy in pockets. Hill spots like Dehradun, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Champaran, Mussoorie, Nainital and Pantnagar may witness these showers. The higher reaches are less vulnerable to these rains in comparison with the foothills which are likely to get more intense showers.

These rains would result in curtailing the deficit further. Hence, alert against localized flooding, waterlogging and landslide are raised and tourists are advised to stay cautious. Power outages and communication snaps are also a chance.
