Mumbai witnesses comfortable weather

February 8, 2017 2:49 PM |

Weather in MumbaiAfter witnessing the coolest night in last four year, weather in Mumbai has once again changed its course. Both the day and night temperatures that have been settling well below normal have once again increased.

On Tuesday, the minimum temperature had dropped to 14°C, which was the lowest minimum temperature in February since 2013. This was three degrees below the normal average temperature of 17.8°C.

According to Skymet Weather, Mumbai is not used to see such low night temperatures being a coastal area and thus, weather was cold according to the city standards.

On Wednesday, the entertainment capital recorded minimum of 17.6°C, while maximum temperatures settled at 30.5°C.

As reiterated by Skymet Weather, the reason behind the variation in temperatures is the change in wind pattern. Until yesterday, the continuous flow of cool northerly winds across Rajasthan, Gujarat and Konkan & Goa region had pulled the mercury below normal.

Now, these cold winds are replaced by relatively warm and humid southeasterly winds. This is due to a cyclonic circulation over Central Pakistan and adjoining areas. This increased level of moisture has curtailed the drop in mercury.

Similar weather conditions will continue over the city and thus, mercury across Mumbai will now settle near normal.
