Good thundershowers were yet again seen lashing Mumbai City on Friday morning. Mumbaikars woke up to thunderstorms after right around a week’s gap in length of a long dry spell. While these rains continued for over an hour in a few areas, significantly in South Mumbai, traffic jams were reported as well.
Furthermore, blocked road conditions were majorly seen around Lower Parel and Eastern Interstate among different locations.
In addition, due to these unforeseen showers, Mumbai was hit by a frightful disaster that reportedly saw 22 individuals dying following a stampede at the Elphinstone road station on the Western Railways, yesterday.
In a span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday, Colaba observatory recorded moderate rainfall of 28 mm and Santacruz observatory recorded 3 mm of rainfall.

These weather conditions can be attributed to a feeble upper air trough which is seen extending from Konkan & Goa Coast. Plus, the dry and warm winds are mixing with moist winds which are blowing over the coastal regions.
Due to this, light spells of rains and thundershowers are likely to continue over Mumbai City during the next 24 hours. However, these rains are expected to remain highly localized and patchy in nature.
As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, these downpours are likely intended for some time amid this week as the October heat has advanced and will be taking the day temperatures over 31 degrees Celsius.

In contrary, the nights are likely to remain cool and comfortable and the temperatures are expected to settle around 24-25 degree Celsius. Otherwise, dry and warm weather conditions along with partly cloudy sky are likely to prevail over the city.
