Mumbai Weather: Colder Nights for next few days

January 20, 2016 2:37 PM |

Nights to get colder in MumbaiThe weather in Mumbai remains pleasant during the months of December and January when the plains of North India are observing biting cold conditions. Nights in Mumbai tend to be warmer than the other parts of Maharashtra due to the city being a coastal station.

Though the minimums in Mumbai tend to witness a drop many times during the month of December. This year, the city recorded its coldest morning of the season on December 24 with minimums recording at 11.4°C. Moreover, from December 22 to January 2, the night temperatures fell below 13 degrees thrice.

However, temperatures soared again and night temperatures continued to hover between 18°C and 20°C. However, minimums have witnessed a drop once again due to the flow of  cold northeasterly winds over the coastal areas of Maharashtra.

Thus, minimums have witnessed a drop in Mumbai and nights have become colder. These conditions will prevail in Mumbai for the next couple of days. The temperature is below the 13-degree mark at 12.6°C.

Usually, Mumbai does not observe any rainfall activity. While the average monthly rain for the city stands at 0.6 mm, the capital city of Maharashtra has not received any rain in January during the last decade.

However, after the cold weather subsides in Mumbai, cloudy sky conditions will be observed due to the weather system. There is a very little chance that the city might receive light rain in isolated pockets.
