Even after the onset of Monsoon over Mumbai, the city is still waiting for the maiden spell of good rains. Although coastal areas of Maharashtra have been recording good rains but heavy rains have escaped the entertainment capital.
During the 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday, Colaba Observatory in Mumbai has recorded mere 3 mm of rain, while Santa Cruz remained dry.
Now, the bad news is that we do not expect any good spell of rains during the next 2-3 days also. According to Skymet Weather, the off-shore trough that was running from Coastal Gujarat to Coastal Karnataka has become less marked. This has made Monsoon subdued over Mumbai, resulting in significant decline in rainfall.

As a result, Mumbai is most likely to record light rain and thundershowers only for the next few days. With decline in rains, mercury is also likely to rise making the weather warm and humid.

However, fresh Monsoon surge is likely to activate the trough once again and by June 20, rains will once again pick up pace over Mumbai. The state is capital is most likely to record famous three-digit Mumbai rains during this time.
So far, Mumbai has recorded only 195.8 mm of rain against daunting target of 523.1 mm of monthly rainfall. But Mumbai is famous for torrential rains within 24 hours and with 12 days still in hand, we can still be hopeful for city surpassing the target.
