The city of Mumbai saw light traces of rain and thunderstorm last night. In view of the sky high temperatures, which was the highest of the season just a day ago and the Cyclonic Circulation which is closer to the coast under the easterly effect resulted in some thunderstorm last night. Today, the maximum was recorded at 36.8 degrees Celsius, which is four degrees above normal.
The temperatures are likely to stay above normal but then we expect some more showers. These rains will be light only. The Cyclonic Circulation over North Madhya Maharashtra and adjoining Konkan along with moisture build up will be the reason.
Rains are unseasonal as Mumbai does not see rains during March unless a freak weather incidence takes place. Light rains may be seen on March 16, 17 as well as 18.
Temperatures will take a dip due to these rains but we cannot expect major relief from the sweltering heat. There may be some marginal drop during the time of rains and maximums may be about 33-34 degrees Celsius.
