Mumbai has been witnessing warm and dry weather conditions for the past one week. As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, conditions are expected to remain the same for the next few days as well.
During the month of November, the normal rainfall for Mumbai stands at 16.8 mm. However, until now, not even a single drop of rainfall has been witnessed over the maximum city. There have been several years when Mumbai rains have remained absent during the month of November.
In fact, such weather conditions have been observed at least three times in the last decade. After withdrawal of Monsoon, rain occurs over Mumbai when an off-shore trough develops over Madhya Maharashtra or a weather system forms over Northwest Arabian Sea off Maharashtra which is a rare phenomenon in the season.
At present, Mumbai is witnessing high temperatures. Both maximum and minimum are marginally above normal. Usually, Mumbai observes comfortable nights during November but day remains very warm with maximums hovering in the mid-30s.
Whenever easterly or northeasterly winds travelling via Madhya Pradesh start blowing over Mumbai and its adjoining areas, minimums tend to drop significantly. On November 10 and 11, such conditions were witnessed when the minimum had dropped to 16 degrees. There are times when the temperatures drop to 14 and 15 degrees as well.
On the other hand, the westerly and the northwesterly winds keep the temperatures high and the weather conditions humid. For the rest of November, no rains are in sight for Mumbai and its adjoining areas. Also, weather conditions are expected to remain warm.
