Seems like rains have finally come to an agreement with Mumbaikers. After lashing floods and torrential rains early this week over Mumbai, rain Gods have shifted their focus a bit. Although the rains haven’t completely disappeared from the city.

During the last 24 hours some light rains were seen over a few areas in Mumbai. Going by the observatories, Santa Cruz received only 1 mm of rain, while 1.2 mm rains were recorded in Colaba. At the same time, surrounding regions of Dahanu recorded 2.2 mm, Alibag 1 mm while Thane received no rains.

As a matter of relief, temperatures remained in their normal range yesterday.

At present, a Low Pressure Area persists over Northeast Arabian Sea and Southwest Gujarat coast. The system may intensify marginally during the next 24 hours. Apart from this, Southwesterly light to moderate winds are prevailing over Mumbai and adjoining coast.

The present situation shows that light rainy spells may occur over Mumbai during the next 24 to 48 hours.

Thereafter, rain will intensify marginally over the area but no significant increase is being forecast. 3 to 5 mm rains might be observed over the city today.

Temperatures may also remain close to the normal during the next few days in Mumbai.

Today also we expect the day temperatures to reach around 31 degrees while minimums will remain around 25 degrees.

Largely, Mumbai is likely to continue receiving light rains during the next seven days. Seems like the Southwest Monsoon will take its time to make a withdrawal over the city this time.
