Mumbai rains have remained absent for quite some time now. While isolated light showers did make an appearance over one or two areas, but the entire city did not witness rains. However, now around June 5, Mumbai is expected to receive some rains.
For the past few months, rains have failed to visit Mumbai leaving it parched. In fact, the monthly average for May which stands at around 12.5 mm has also not been met. Only traces of rains have been recorded on two occasions on May 22 and May 25.
With only one day left in May, it is impossible for Mumbai to be able to surpass its monthly rains. However, come June and rainy days will begin in Mumbai. Light showers will begin on June 5 over Mumbai giving that much needed relief.
After June 8, rains will increase over the maximum city both in terms of spread and intensity. During this maximum temperatures that have been settling above normal levels will also witness a slight drop bringing in some relief.
While Mumbai received merely 12.5 mm rain in May, during the month of June there is a drastic change in the rainfall figures. The monthly average rains for the month of June stand at a whopping 523.1 mm of rainfall.
As Monsoon 2016 is merely a few days away from hitting the city, the wait for good rains in Mumbai is just round the corner.
