Mumbai has been witnessing warm weather for the last many days, with mercury hovering around 33°C. However, heat wave is now all set to make a come back over the maximum city soon.
According to Skymet Weather, mercury would start soaring April 13 onwards gradually. We expect between April 13 and 17, maximum temperatures may reach to 38°C, paving way for extreme heat wave conditions.
As per weathermen, an anti-cyclone is likely to form over North Arabian Sea, which would induce warm winds over northwestern parts of the country. These hot and warm winds would be travelling to Mumbai from Rajasthan and Gujarat where maximum temperatures would be around 42°C-43°C or even more.
With this, Mumbaikars will have to brace for hotter days ahead. Being a coastal station, the feel like factor is much more than the actual temperature on account of high humidity.
We can expect some relief April 18 onwards but thereafter also weather would remain warm. Unlike rest of the country, Mumbai does not see much pre-Monsoon activities. We see spike in these activities just before the arrival of Monsoon i.e. around June 10.
April remains practically dry with average rainfall of mere 0.1 mm. The following month of May also does not see much rains with normal average of 11.3 mm only.
