Mumbai to be dry, Sangli, Satara, Ratnagiri to see rains

The performance of Southwest Monsoon over the state of Maharashtra has been good enough so far. The region has recorded some extremely good Monsoon rains from June to September. In the last few days as well, most parts witnessed good Monsoon showers.

Now, as per weathermen, the rain intensity has reduced over most parts but South Madhya Maharashtra received few heavy spells in the last 24 hours. Places like Kolhapur recorded heavy rains of 65 mm and Sangli 51 mm. During the same time frame, South Konkan and Goa received light rains.

According to Skymet Weather, the intensity of rains will increase and moderate rains will occur over South Konkan and Goa and adjoining South Madhya Maharashtra for the next 24 hours. Thereafter, North Konkan and Goa and North Madhya Maharashtra will also start witnessing scattered rains.

However, the weather of Marathwada and Vidarbha will remain dry with clear sky and bright sunshine. In fact, since past two days, the weather remained dry over Mumbai. The same weather conditions are likely to continue over Mumbai for another 24 to 48 hours. Thereafter light rain in patches may show up over the city but will not much impact.

As on September 24, out of the four sub divisions of Maharashtra, only Vidarbha has seen deficient rains of 22% whereas the others; Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada are either excess or at normal levels.
