Constant dry weather conditions over Konkan and Goa region has led to a significant rise in the maximum temperatures. The daytime highs are settling 2-3 notches above the normal levels in South Konkan and Goa region while the northern parts of this region have witnessed the temperatures mounting by 4 almost degrees.
In fact, a few stations along the Konkan and Goa belt are reeling under hot to very hot weather conditions with the temperatures breaching even the 35-degree mark. Yesterday, Mumbai recorded the maximum temperature at 32.7°C which is almost two degrees above normal.
Thane also followed the suit and the daytime high in the city on February 20 settled at 36.6°C. Harnai and Dahanu also witnessed the daytime high settling 2 degrees above the normal.

The reason for the continuous warm weather conditions can be associated with the persistent warm and dry winds prevailing over the region. As of now also, the weathermen at Skymet Weather does not predict chances of any rains. Dry weather is anticipated to continue over the region.
The sky would remain mainly sunny. The temperatures may also witness a marginal rise after 48 hours. However, evenings may get pleasant followed by breezy conditions and starry nights.

Farmers in Konkan region are advised to take care of Mango, Cashew nut, Banana, Arecanut, Coconut orchard and vegetables against pest incidences. Farmers are advised to provide irrigation to the orchard and vegetable crops to minimize fruit and flower drops. Irrigation to summer crops of Groundnut and Paddy is also recommended.
