During last 24 hours, many parts of Maharashtra received good rains. In fact, South Monsoon poured Monsoon showers of varied intensity over the entire state wherein Konkan and Goa and Marathwada region received excess rainfall.

Many stations of Vidarbha also witnessed light to moderate rains. In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Sunday, Aurangabad received heavy rain of 70 mm, Santacruz and Colaba Observatory inMumbaialso witnessed 60 mm of rain and Thane and Harnai 52 mm,Alibag44 mm andRatnagiri38 mm of rain. In the same span of time, Sholapur recorded moderate intensity rain of 25 mm,Pune23 mm, Amravati 20 mm, Nashik 19 mm and Dahanu 14 mm of rain.
As per Skymet Weather, the cyclonic circulation was persisting over North Madhya Maharashtra and adjoining area, therefore, humid winds from the Arabian Sea continued to feed moisture over the area. It is anticipated that moderate to heavy rains will continue over Vidarbha for the next 24 hours.

These rains over Vidarbha will be due to a Low-Pressure Area which is over South Odisha and Chhattisgarh. It is likely to move in a westerly direction and increase rains over Vidarbha. Moreover, the cyclonic circulation which was over North Madhya Maharashtra will move in a westerly direction and will give heavy to extremely heavy rains at few places of North Madhya Maharashtra.
Meanwhile, moderate to heavy will also continue over remaining parts of Konkan and Goa. Rains over South Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada will be scattered and will be less in comparison to other parts of the state. Places such as Mumbai, Pune, Thane, Nashik, Chandrapur, Nagpur, Akola, Amravati, and Jalgaon will record moderate to heavy intensity rains
