From looking at the temperature figures, it looks like Mumbai has already started its affair with summer season. Yesterday, Mumbai recorded its maximum temperature in last 10 years. At 38.8°C, Mumbai residents were literally feeling the heat of summers in the month of February.

Previous to this, back in February 23, 2015 the city recorded the similar figure of 38.8°C. At present, the temperatures in Mumbai are 8°C above normal. This spiked up levels of temperatures is due to the hot inland winds blowing from northeast direction.

But Mumbaikars can have a sigh of relief as gradual decrease in temperatures is expected till February22. There after rise in temperatures is expected again. This drop in temperatures is due to the change in wind direction. Winds from northwest direction is expected which will register a drop in temperature by 3-5°C.

From February23 onward, winds will once again start blowing from northeast direction. These inlands winds will come from Gujarat which is hot in nature.

The all-time highest maximum temperature recorded was on February 25, 1966. At that time the city of Mumbai soared at 39.6°C.
