The city of Mumbai has been seeing intense rainfall activities for the past few days and the commercial capital of India has recorded three digit rain for two consecutive days. During the last 24 hours from 8:30 AM on thursday, the Santacruz observatory recorded 118 mm of rain while Colaba saw 116 mm of rainfall.
Rainfall activity is expected to reduce slightly today with three-digit rains not very likely. However moderate to heavy rainfall activity may be seen today in some parts. Rainfall activity will be further reduced tomorrow and only moderate showers are likely over the city of Mumbai and thereafter there may be further reduction of rains.
The monsoon surge was active as there was a low pressure area in the Bay of Bengal along the east coast. The system is now weakening and also moving in the northeast direction which could result in the reduction of monsoon rains over Mumbai and other parts of Konkan.
