Mumbai rains change dramatically as the month of October appears after Monsoon withdraws. Rainfall reduces to double digits to the tune of 89.3 mm in October.
This year, rainfall has remained on a complete backseat with the city seeing rainfall on just a day to the tune of 4 mm. Moreover, in the coming days also, rainfall activity is not expected over the city of Mumbai.
Due to rains being on the lower side, Mumbai is likely to see the driest October rains in a decade with the lower being in 2008 when 17.3 mm of rainfall was witnessed.
Also, October, sees reversal of winds due to which day temperatures tend to increase. For the last two days, temperatures in the city of Mumbai have been on the rise in view of the absence of rains along with the reversal of the wind pattern.
Maximum temperatures in the last couple of days have been in the late 30s, above the 37 degree mark. Yesterday, Mumbai recorded its maximum at 37.5 degrees Celsius which is the second highest in a decade during the month of October, the highest being 38.6 degrees Celsius in the year 2015.
The setting in of the sea breeze has not taken place before 1 pm, due to which temperatures did see an increase for a long time. Now also, temperatures will continue to remain in the similar range with no relief in the offing.
