For the last few days, the city of Mumbai has not seen any significant rainfall activity and rains have been mostly on the back seat only. There have been a few spells of rain on a daily basis but the showers have mostly been in single digit only and any heavy rains have been far away from Mumbai.

However, in the last 24 hours, Mumbai rains have picked up pace and the city's Santa Cruz observatory has recorded a whopping 94 mm of rainfall. Moreover, the city of Mumbai has seen a few spells of rain since the morning hours as well.

These rainfall activities will be attributed to a Cyclonic Circulation which has caused clouding over many parts of Maharashtra. Westerly stream has picked up because of this system, resulting in rains over Mumbai.

However, these rains will see an improvement once the day progresses and nothing significant is expected in the coming days as well. Some freak rainfall may be seen but all in all, more heavy rains may not be on the cards for Mumbai for at least three to four days. Thereafter, rains may make a comeback due to formation of a weather system.
