Mumbai has been reeling under hot weather conditions for the last few days, with mercury settling above 35°C. The ongoing weather conditions can be touted as the second spell of summers.

On Monday, the entertainment capital recorded day maximum at 36.1°C that is two degrees above normal. Rise in temperatures can be attributed to the warm northerly winds blowing from land.

According to Skymet Weather, after the withdrawal of Monsoon, many parts of West India experience hot weather conditions. This phenomenon is also known as the second summer. During this time, skies clear up, dry winds take over and temperatures witness a steep rise. These conditions last only for a week or two, and is not a long process.

Further, we do not expect any major change in the weather during the next few days. Maximum temperatures will continue to be warm, settling in higher 30s.

Meanwhile, contrary to the day maximums, there has been a dip in the morning temperatures. This drop is also on account of the dry northerly winds that have significantly reduced the levels of humidity.

Minimum temperatures are settling around normal but are likely to drop marginally. Hence, Mumbaikars will have to bear hot days with bright sunshine in the coming days, while evenings and nights will be breezy and pleasant.
