The city of Mumbai yesterday recorded maximum at 34.9 degrees, which was the highest pan India. During the months of October and November, the city sees maximums above 35 degrees on several occasions.
However during the months of December and January, maximums do not exceed 35 degrees on a regular basis. On some occasions, it does cross 35 degrees but it is not a regular affair per se. In 2021, the city saw maximum at 35 degrees on december 12. In 2020, the city recorded maximums around 35 degrees just once in december.
While it is not very unusual for Mumbai to see maximum around 35°, what is uncommon is a coastal station having Pan India highest. Mumbai has a pattern of northeasterly pattern in the morning and sea breeze thereafter. Yesterday, sea breeze was slightly late and the same has been the case due to which maximum has once again settled at 34.9 degrees. We can expect similar pattern tomorrow as well.
