Mumbai records 72 mm in 3 hours, Pune receives 25 mm, more showers likely

Mumbai rains have made a power packed comeback. While the city was receiving close to 15 mm of rain during the last 72 hours, Monsoon rains have picked up pace now. In fact, the city has recorded last three days’ worth rainfall in three hours.

During the last three hours between 8:30 am and 11:30 am today, the maximum city has recorded a whopping 72 mm of rainfall. This is the first time in the month of August this year that the city has received such heavy rains.

Currently, the Monsoon surge is active over the commercial capital of the country resulting in heavy rains over the city. Not only this, Pune which usually receives very little rain has also recorded good showers. During the same period, Pune has witnessed 25 mm of rainfall.

Local trains as well as bus services have taken a beating as heavy Monsoon rains continue to wreak havoc. Not only this, flight services have also suffered a major setback. At present, all flights in Mumbai have been delayed. One has been diverted while six other are going around.

During the next 24 hours, Mumbai rains will continue to remain intense. In fact, heavy to very heavy Monsoon rains will continue over the city. With the intensity of rains in three hours, Mumbai will easily record three digit rains today.
