Mumbai rains are back since quite some time after taking a slight break in between and these rains are surely making their presence felt. So much so that the financial capital of the country has witnessed some heavy rains during the last 24 hours.

Even at present, Mumbai is receiving good rains. Even the suburbs haven’t been left far behind and heavy Monsoon showers have been recorded over Thane, Dombivili and Kandivali. In fact, these rains continued throughout the day and only increased in intensity during the night hours.

During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Santa Cruz Observatory in Mumbai recorded a whopping 110 mm. Thus, the first day of August itself has witnessed heavy rains. Meanwhile, the Colaba observatory observed around 38 mm of rainfall during the same period.

These heavy rains can be attributed to the moisture incursion from the cyclonic circulation which had previously formed over Gujarat region. Also, a feeble off shore trough has developed along the West Coast which is running from Maharashtra Coast up to Coastal Karnataka. Due to this, rain intensity has increased over the Maximum City.

Now, moderate to heavy rains are expected to continue over Mumbai during the next 24 hours. In fact, some parts may even witness a few sharp spells. With the rainfall figures, it looks like August will definitely be rainy for Mumbai.
