The wait for good Mumbai rains seems not getting over so soon as the city is still bracing for some good showers from almost past 4-5 days. While the Santa Cruz Observatory had recorded 54 mm of rains on August 15, the Colaba Observatory had not seen good rains since August started.
The infamous Mumbai rains have remained in hiding and August has not remained very constructive in terms of rains for Mumbai. Though some minor changes in terms of Mumbai weather are anticipated now.
Within the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Friday, Santa Cruz Observatory recorded 4 mm of rains. While the Colaba Observatory during the similar time frame witnessed merely 1 mm of spells.

As per the weatherman at Skymet Weather can be associated with the low-pressure area which was seen over Odisha and adjoining areas. Moreover, an upper air cyclonic circulation is also seen extending over the region. This weather system will move in a westerly direction towards Maharashtra thereby reviving the Mumbai rains.

On account of this weather system, Monsoon rain and thundershowers will continue over several other districts of Maharashtra as well. However, these rains will start occurring from today until tomorrow. Isolated pockets may witness some exceptional rains as well.
Within the next 24 hours, Mumbai rains will once again start reducing. The average monthly rainfall for Mumbai stands at 529.7 mm and till date, the city of dreams has witnessed 135.8 mm of rains. Hence, it is still worth observing if the city manages to surpass its daunting monthly target.
