In the last month, the city of dreams, Mumbai witnessed extremely heavy three-digit rains which led to flooding situation across the city. Thereafter, the rain intensity reduced and after a pause of a dry spell that lasted for almost 4-5 days, Mumbai has once again received rains in the past 24 hours. Though the intensity of these rains was extremely light.

It is anticipated that widespread rain activities will pick up the pace by today evening. These rainfall activities will continue until Sunday. As per Skymet Weather, it is expected that the commercial capital may receive moderate Monsoon showers at many places while isolated heavy rains cannot be ruled out as well.
Strong gusty wind with thunderstorm activities is also expected over the area. These rainfall activities can be attributed to a trough which is extending from central parts of Arabian Sea to North Madhya Maharashtra across North Konkan region. Another trough is extending from Madhya Maharashtra to south Tamil Nadu which will give rains over Mumbai.

It is expected that afternoon will remain sultry and clouding will increase leading to hefty rains. Thereafter, the weather will become pleasant and the temperatures will drop marginally. In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Saturday, Santacruz Observatory in Mumbai witnessed light rain to the tune of 1.2 mm while, Colaba Observatory failed to record any spells. Meanwhile, adjoining Thane district recorded moderate intensity rain of 21 mm.
