Mumbai rains to remain light, temperatures may rise

Mumbai rains have been off the mark for quite a long time now. In fact, the last time that the city had seen heavy rainfall activity was on July 16, which means for about two weeks now, the city had only recorded light rains with a few moderate showers on July 20 and 21.

The last 24 hours were also no different and while the Colaba observatory saw light rains to the tune of 2 mm, Santa Cruz remained dry as a bone during the same time frame. Talking about the temperatures, they have also seen an increase and are settling over the 30-degree mark.

At present, the off-shore trough which was responsible for giving rains over Mumbai and its adjoining areas has become weak and is extending from Karnataka coast up to Kerala region. Currently, no significant system is over and around Mumbai and due to this, rains will remain light over the city.

The day will remain warm and humid with a slight rise in temperatures expected. Sky conditions are expected to remain cloudy which will further result in light rainfall activity over the city. However, heavy rains are ruled out over the city of dreams for now.
